In short: Thought Cloud runs entirely on your device. It does not collect,
transmit, sell, or share any of your data. The extension has no servers, no accounts, and makes
no network requests — everything it stores stays in your own browser.
Who this applies to
This policy covers the Thought Cloud browser extension ("the extension"). It is published by
Antoshka LLC.
What the extension accesses
To build your personal, searchable memory, the extension reads the content of web pages you
visit while it is installed and enabled. Specifically, for each page it processes:
the page URL and title;
the visible text of the page (it ignores scripts, styles, and similar non-content markup).
In Chrome Web Store disclosure terms, this means the extension handles web history and website
content. If a page contains personal communications or user-generated content, that visible
content may also be included in the local index. Thought Cloud does not seek passwords,
authentication cookies, form entries, or other non-visible browser data.
How that information is used
All processing happens locally, inside your browser, on your device:
The page text is split into passages and converted into numerical representations
("embeddings") by a model that is bundled with the extension and runs on your device.
Those embeddings and the associated text, title, and URL are saved in your browser's local
storage (IndexedDB).
When you search, your query is processed on your device and compared against this local
store to return matching pages.
What we do not do
We do not send your browsing data, page content, or search queries to any
server — ours or anyone else's. The extension makes no network requests.
We do not use analytics, telemetry, tracking, advertising, or cookies.
We do not require an account, login, or payment.
We do not sell, rent, or share any data with third parties.
We do not use your data for any purpose unrelated to the extension's single
purpose (on-device search of pages you have visited).
Chrome Web Store Limited Use
Thought Cloud uses page information only to provide its user-facing, on-device browsing-memory
and search feature. The use of information received from Chrome APIs adheres to the Chrome Web
Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. No extension user data is sold,
transferred for advertising or creditworthiness purposes, or made available for humans to read.
Permissions and why they are needed
Site access for HTTP and HTTPS pages: the declared content script reads each page's title,
URL, and main visible text so it can be indexed locally. The extension does not contact
those sites' servers itself.
offscreen: to run the bundled on-device model outside the popup. The resulting
memory is stored in IndexedDB, which does not require the storage permission.
The extension does not request the tabs or storage permissions.
Where your data is stored and how to delete it
Your data lives only in your browser's local storage on this device. It is never uploaded.
You are in full control:
The popup's Clear memory control deletes the extension's complete local
page and search index.
Clearing the extension's storage or your browser data removes it.
Uninstalling the extension deletes everything it stored.
Otherwise, locally saved pages remain until you delete them; Thought Cloud applies no remote retention.
Children's privacy
The extension is not directed to children and does not knowingly collect information from
children. (In practice it collects nothing off-device from anyone.)
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we will update the effective date above and post the revised version at
this URL.
